Curling in Support of Safety and Children's Wish!
The Calgary Regional Safety Committee hosts the annual Curling "Fun" Spiel, a Calgary, AB-based event giving safety professionals the chance to collaborate on enhanced safety in the Calgary construction community, while also raising money for local charitable causes. On March 17, Natasha Fraser, HSE Administrator, Infrastructure, Shane Mills, Regional HSE Manager, joined forces to show off their curling expertise at the Huntington Hills Curling Club in Calgary, Alberta.
"Every year the Calgary Regional Safety Committee chooses a ‘Charity of Choice’ to support through their networking events and safety activities," explains Fraser, who has held a seat on the event’s committee for two years. "This year, we chose to support the Children’s Wish Foundation, which aims to grant the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illness. It’s a heart-warming cause that creates much needed positivity for sick children."
It was an action-packed evening, with safety professionals from across the city showing up in support of safety and community. Graham donated a Milwaukee drill as one of the raffle prizes. All in all, the event raised more than CDN$1,000 for their Charity of Choice!
"It’s great to have the opportunity to host events that focus on safety, something that is so important to our industry, while also being able to contribute to much-need charities such as Children’s Wish Foundation," shares Fraser.
