Terrane Metals Corp. Mt. Milligan Copper/Gold Project-Concrete Installation Awarded to Graham

Jul 18 2011

Graham Group Ltd. was recently awarded, and has begun work on, a CDN$85 million contract to install 47,000 m3 (61,474 cu. yd.) of cast-in-place concrete for client Terrane Metals Corp., as part of their massive CDN$1.3 billion Mt. Milligan copper-gold project. Once completed, Mt. Milligan will be the first major new metal mine built in British Columbia in 15 years.

Graham is self-performing all aspects of the contract -applying the industry-leading HT 12400C Vince Hagan batch plant capable of producing 90 m3 (118 cu. yd.) of concrete per hour; the largest single pour will be in the range of 2,500 m3 (3,270 cu. yd.). In a first of many milestones associated with this award, Graham is utilizing a state-of-the-art satellite system – featuring a 3.8 m (12 ft.) dish that provides a 10 megabits per second data pipe – to operate Graham’s industry-leading suite of applications, Toolbox, as no cell coverage or landlines are available given the remoteness of the project site.

Situated in the north central region of the province, 155 km (96 mi.) northwest of Prince George, the project will be managed entirely on-site. To meet the owner’s delivery date, at peak, approximately 275 workers will work on a 24-hour-per-day, seven-day-a-week schedule. The project is scheduled to wrap-up February 2013.
