Construction of the 11km Evergreen Light Rail Transit project consisted of an extension to the existing Sky Train system which directly links to the Millennium Line with connections to the Expo Line, Canada Line and West Coast express in the Lower Mainland of BC. Evergreen Rapid Transit (EGRT) Construction was awarded the project in a design, build and finance contract. In turn, EGRT subcontracted the work out to four major groups, Graham in a joint venture with SNC-Lavalin (SGJV), were one of the four joint ventures contracted to design-build a portion of the work.
Initially SGJV was tasked with major utility diversion works along the full extent of the Project. The construction scope also included the design and construction of the foundations and piers for the elevated guideway section of the project, the construction of 1600m of special structures and the completion of 3.1km of at-grade guideway through Port Moody. SGJV also constructed the enabling works and transitions at the north and south end of the tunneled section of the project.
