Graham Takes Home Three VRCA Awards

It was a great night for Graham at last night’s Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Awards of Excellence gala, with Graham taking home three awards. The VRCA Awards celebrate excellence in construction by recognizing the finest companies, projects and individuals in the industry.

Graham shared the 2018 Safety Award in the zero frequency injury rate category with several other construction companies, who also recorded impressive safety results.

Next, Graham was awarded the 2018 VRCA General Contractors Gold Award in the $15-$50 million category for the Metrotown Station and Exchange Upgrade project. This project included a new East Station House and the renovation of the existing West Station House. Executed in a live environment, the project was completed ahead of schedule and without a single service distruption to Skytrain operations.

And finally, the 2018 VRCA Heritage Award was presented to Graham for the Burrard Bridge Rehabilitation. The Heritage Award is not regularly presented; it is reserved for exceptional projects that have restored or renovated signature iconic buildings or structures in the communities they serve. Opened in 1932, the Burrard Bridge rehabilitation preserved the original Art Deco design and re-introduced the historic pedestrian lighting that had been lost over the years. Traffic flow along the bridge and the intersections at either end were also redesigned to improve pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle safety.

This year was the 30th anniversary of the awards.
