Oi Kwan Developments Ltd.
Located in the downtown core and hemmed in by multi-storey buildings on both sides, Oi Kwan Place comprised: the demolition of a church (except its historic façade); the refurbishment of the adjacent 11-storey residential building; and the construction of a new 17-storey residential building on the 12-metre-wide lot where the original church once stood. The preserved façade of the church is attached to the new residential tower and the building includes a new church on the upper main floor. The new 17-storey tower connects to the 11-storey renovated building with a zero property line on all sides, and the buildings have 11 shared elevator lobbies, which was a first in Calgary.
Both residential buildings are designed for retirement living. The scope of work also included paved parking, and various site works and landscaping.
