Metro Phase II Parkade and Phase I Expansion

Location: Etobicoke, Ontario

Project Overview

Graham delivered the second phase of a multi-stage construction program within a new Metro distribution complex in Etobicoke, Ontario. This phase comprised two major components: the construction of a new concrete parkade and the redevelopment of an existing site area to accommodate a large-scale chilling centre. The work followed Graham’s successful completion of the project’s first phase for the same client and continued the expansion of the facility’s cold-chain distribution capabilities.

Concrete Parkade Construction

The first stage involved the construction of a new-build concrete parkade structure designed to integrate with an adjoining building. The approximately 5,000-square-foot parkade included a suspended concrete slab connection and was configured with one level above grade and one level below grade. The structure was designed to support operational requirements within the broader complex while maintaining structural continuity with the adjacent facility.

Chilling Centre Development

The second stage began with the demolition of an existing building to make way for a new 300,000-square-foot chilling centre. The facility was constructed to support large-scale refrigerated storage and distribution operations and mirrored the scope and operational functionality of the chilling centre delivered by Graham during Phase One of the project.

The new facility incorporated the same automated racking system used in the original phase, ensuring operational consistency and efficient integration within the overall Metro distribution network.
