Completed Calgary Infrastructure Project Supports Green Line Growth

July 8, 2025

Graham is pleased to announce the successful completion of the 78th Avenue SE Grade Separation and Ogden Pedestrian Tunnel project in Calgary. This critical infrastructure upgrade improves transportation, enhances mobility and pedestrian safety, and supports future Green Line LRT development in the Ogden neighbourhood.

Construction on the $45 million project began in June 2023 beneath the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail corridor.

Key features of the upgrade include:

  • A vehicle underpass (grade separation) connecting 78 Avenue SE to a new roundabout and roadway east of the CPKC rail line, linking to Ogden Dale Road
  • A pedestrian tunnel on 72 Avenue SE, providing a safe, direct connection between Ogden Dale Road and the future Ogden Station
  • Upgraded utilities and roadworks to support long-term infrastructure needs

With the opening of the 78 Avenue SE underpass, the existing at-grade rail crossing at 69 Avenue SE will be permanently closed—significantly improving safety and traffic flow in the area.

Graham collaborated closely with the City of Calgary and CPKC throughout the project, managing safety and scheduling risks associated with working adjacent to an active mainline track that sees 20 to 30 trains per day.
