Graham is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Mundy Park Pool renovation project in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Delivered on time and on budget, the renovation modernizes the 50-year-old facility, creating a more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable community amenity.
Facility Features
Completed over a two-year period in close collaboration with the City of Coquitlam, the revitalized facility features a new leisure pool with a shallow beach entry, splash area, lazy river, and 1.2-metre deep end. Upgrades also include expanded deck areas for lounging and spectator seating, a new concession, and both gendered and universal change rooms. An accessible admissions area and new multipurpose rooms support year-round programming, including workshops, training, and certification courses. The existing pool has been enhanced with eight 25-metre swim lanes and a dedicated dive area.
Preconstruction Services
Prior to construction, Graham led a comprehensive preconstruction phase, offering cost-saving solutions, schedule development, and constructability reviews to ensure project success.
Inclusiveness and Environmental Impacts
This revitalized facility is designed to serve the Coquitlam community for generations. In alignment with Rick Hansen Accessibility Standards, inclusive features were integrated throughout the facility. A major sustainability upgrade—replacing the original natural gas boilers with a hybrid heat pump/boiler system—is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 80%, saving the City an estimated $34,000 annually. The previous heating system had been the City’s third-largest source of emissions among civic facilities.
Cultural Inclusion
As part of the City’s commitment to cultural inclusion, Graham and the design team worked in partnership with the Kwikwetlem First Nation and artist Rosalie Dipcsu to incorporate public art installations into the facility.
