Construction of the South Calgary Emergency Response Station included the new building, the safe demolition of the original adjacent historic facility, and the construction and landscaping of a memorial park and parking lot.

The facility consists of three apparatus bays that house six firetrucks, in-floor heating and drainage systems, and an intricate ventilation system to maintain air quality within the building with operational firetrucks. The main floor also houses multi-use offices, meeting rooms, and the facility kitchen. The upper floor consists of dorms, bathrooms and a workout room for staff.

The existing fire hall remained fully operational during construction. The brick from the historic building was salvaged and used in the new building and in the landscaping of a memorial park and bench. Also included was art work and statues constructed from firehose couplings.

The project achieved LEED Gold.
