Modernizing University of Alberta’s Kelsey Hall

May 6, 2021

Graham has been awarded a new project showcasing their strengthening relationship with the University of Alberta.

Located in Edmonton, the Kelsey Hall Tower Modernization is the third phase and third tower of a multi-year program in the Southwest section of University of Alberta’s North Campus. There are five residence towers, Mackenzie Hall, Henday Hall, Kelsey Hall, Schäffer Hall and Thelma Chalifoux Hall, currently housing 1,760 students. With the exception of Thelma Chalifoux Hall, a new residence completed by Graham in 2018, the buildings were originally completed in the 1960’s and have not seen any significant renovations or upgrades since.

This renovation of Kelsey Hall will include the modernization and renewal of suites, common spaces, washrooms, social areas, study rooms, kitchen and general utility areas. The refurbishment of all areas, improved building systems, elevators, exterior and building envelope upgrades, heating, lighting, ventilation, fire suppression, building code upgrades are included along with other transformational improvements. Once the phased construction is completed, the total capacity will increase to 2,200 students.

Construction is slated to start immediately.
