144 Avenue NW Breaks Ground

April 8, 2022

Last week, we joined our client, the City of Calgary, and other project land shareholders to celebrate the groundbreaking and cultural ceremonies related to the 144th Avenue NW and Nose Creek Bridge project. Members of the Kainai and Siksika Nations led traditional blessings, acknowledging the spiritual significance of the land, and praying for a safe and successful project. Then, the consulting archaeologist led a site orientation which included an overview of the types of historical items to watch for and the process to follow should anything be found. The project includes 1.2 km of new arterial roadway, a bridge over West Nose Creek, an expansion of the multi-use pathways system and other improvements to the transportation network. As 144th Avenue NW is planned to be the only continuous east-west connection north of Calgary’s ring road, it will become an important link for all modes of transportation.
