Shalom Manor Long-Term Care Home

Project Overview

The new Shalom Manor Hamilton Campus of Care will be a six-storey, 264,000 sq. ft. healthcare and residential facility designed to provide a range of supportive living environments for seniors. Once complete, the building will accommodate 128 long-term care beds, 56 memory care beds and 72 assisted living suites, bringing multiple levels of care together within a single campus.

Building Structure and Systems

The facility will be constructed as a non-combustible structure incorporating a structural steel frame with reinforced concrete shear walls. Floor systems will consist of hollow-core precast concrete slabs supported by the primary steel structure. Interior partitions will primarily be formed using non-structural cold-formed steel framed walls.

Building Envelope

The exterior façade will combine durable masonry and metal cladding systems. Stone and brick masonry will form the primary exterior finish, complemented by composite metal panels and metal siding at the penthouse level. Aluminum window systems will be installed throughout the building to provide natural light and thermal performance appropriate for a residential healthcare environment.

Site Development

Site development will include the installation of new underground storm, sanitary, water and gas infrastructure to service the facility. Additional works will consist of retaining walls, landscaped areas and three new access driveways connecting the site to the surrounding road network. Surface parking will accommodate 132 vehicles on asphalt-paved parking areas.
