Graham has completed the redevelopment of The Winston Golf Club clubhouse in Calgary, AB, delivering a modern, year-round facility that enhances the member experience while expanding opportunities for dining, social gatherings and private events.
Located just minutes from downtown Calgary, The Winston Golf Club is one of the city’s oldest golf courses, established in 1923. Working as General Contractor alongside FWBA Architects, Graham was involved in preconstruction and design development before delivering the 21,000-square-foot clubhouse under a Construction Management contract. The project integrated portions of the original building with new construction to create a contemporary facility that maintains a connection to the Club’s long-established setting.
A New Facility for Members and Guests
The completed clubhouse features expansive restaurant, lounge and patio areas overlooking the golf course, private banquet and meeting facilities, administration areas, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a pro shop, golf simulators and club storage.
At the centre of the design is a spacious atrium that serves as the clubhouse’s primary arrival and gathering space. Visible from across the golf course, the atrium connects the main entrance with the restaurant, banquet hall and commercial kitchen, while providing access to the lower-level pro shop and cart storage areas.
Expansive wrap-around windows in the restaurant offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, while generous dining and patio areas strengthen the connection between the interior spaces and the golf course. These features create a welcoming environment for members and guests while supporting the Club’s hospitality and event operations throughout the year.
Integrating the Original Clubhouse with New Construction
The redevelopment involved salvaging a portion of the existing clubhouse and incorporating it into the new facility. This required careful coordination of structural, architectural and building systems to integrate the retained portions of the building with the new construction.
The project also required consideration of the golf course’s operational needs throughout construction, while delivering new hospitality, event and member spaces designed to support the Club’s long-term requirements.
Completed in July 2026, the redevelopment provides The Winston Golf Club with a contemporary clubhouse that accommodates golf operations, dining, events and year-round social activities while maintaining a strong connection to its historic Calgary setting.
