Graham has received two Silver Awards at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s (VRCA) 2026 Awards of Excellence, recognizing the Vancouver Transit Centre (VTC) Skybridge Rehabilitation and OMD Tank Farm Project – General Contractor Services.
The annual awards recognize outstanding achievement across British Columbia’s construction industry, highlighting projects that demonstrate collaboration, innovation and strong project delivery.
Vancouver Transit Centre Skybridge Rehabilitation
The Vancouver Transit Centre (VTC) Skybridge Rehabilitation received a Silver Award in the General Contractor – Tenant Improvement – Up to $10 Million category.
Located at the South Vancouver Transit Centre, the skybridge provides an important connection between the employee parking lot and the main building for more than 1,400 TransLink and Coast Mountain Bus Company employees.
Graham’s scope included removing the existing walkway, refinishing the existing HSS steel and installing a new suspended concrete slab.
A key challenge was completing the work while maintaining full transit centre operations. To support safe construction above active bus movements and high-voltage trolley wires, the project team installed a fully enclosed protective work platform beneath the skybridge. The platform was engineered to support the new concrete construction while creating a barrier between the work area and the electrical infrastructure below.
This approach allowed construction to proceed without requiring shutdowns or interruptions to transit centre operations, with buses continuing to move through the facility throughout the project.
OMD Tank Farm Project
The OMD Tank Farm Project – General Contractor Services also received a Silver Award at this year’s VRCA Awards of Excellence.
The project involved expanding the OMD Tank Farm’s storage capacity while maintaining BC Hydro’s oil processing operations throughout construction. Delivering the work within an active operating environment required detailed planning, close coordination and careful sequencing to minimize impacts to ongoing operations.
The team adapted construction activities to site and operational requirements while maintaining a strong focus on safe and efficient project delivery.
These two Silver Awards reflect the expertise and collaboration of the project teams and their ability to deliver complex work in active operating environments.
Gold Award winners will be announced on October 16, 2026, at the VRCA Awards of Excellence Gala.
