Infrastructure Improvement Projects Awarded to Graham in Calgary, AB

June 25, 2025

Graham is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the General Contractor role for a series of infrastructure improvements in northeast Calgary, AB.

This CDN $30 million stipulated price contract marks one of our first major infrastructure projects with Rocky View County. The improvements will connect emerging communities east of Stoney Trail to the broader traffic network, including Airport Trail, supporting Calgary’s continued growth and future development opportunities.

Scope of work includes constructing a new bridge structure and finalizing interchange upgrades while maintaining traffic flow along Stoney Trail and Airport Trail. Key components of the project are:

  • Construction of the north half of the ultimate four-lane divided roadway (two westbound and two eastbound lanes)
  • Utilization of the existing single-lane structure and construction of the separated westbound-to-southbound bypass and associated loop ramp
  • Expansion of Airport Trail NE to a four-lane divided cross-section within the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC)
  • Installation of a southbound-to-eastbound dual left turn at the west terminal intersection
  • Installation of a northbound-to-westbound dual left turn at the east terminal intersection
  • Construction of a westbound-to-northbound directional ramp
  • Construction of an eastbound-to-northbound loop ramp
  • Reconfiguration of the eastbound-to-southbound ramp from two lanes to one
  • Signalized intersections at both east and west interchange terminals

The project was awarded following a two-stage procurement process, beginning with a Request for Qualifications, in which Graham was shortlisted alongside four other major general contractors. Our final tender submission demonstrated Graham’s collaborative and innovative approach to project delivery.

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2025, with completion anticipated by October 2026.
