Major Structural Phase Completed on Airport / Stoney Trail Interchange

February 6, 2026

Project Overview

Construction has reached a significant milestone on the Airport / Stoney Trail Interchange, a key infrastructure project being delivered on behalf of Genesis Land and Rocky View County. The interchange will support future servicing and development associated with the Omni project.

Girder Installation Milestone

In late January, the project team completed the installation of 18 NU girders. Each girder measures approximately 2.4 metres in width and 50 metres in length. The placement of the final girder occurred last night, completing a critical structural phase of the interchange.

Execution and Traffic Management

The girder installation required detailed planning and coordination, including full road closures and traffic control measures along both Stoney Trail and Airport Trail. The work was carried out through close coordination between construction crews, engineering partners, traffic management teams, and key stakeholders to ensure the operation was completed safely and efficiently.

Project Progress

Completion of this phase positions the project for continued construction progress through the remainder of the year. The milestone advances the delivery of infrastructure that will support long-term regional transportation needs and planned development in the area.
