Western Digital R&D Media Tool Relocation

The Western Digital Tenant Improvements involved 60,000 sq. ft. of upgrades within an occupied 300,000 sq. ft. facility, including the relocation and installation of more than 200 specialized tools.

The scope included demolition of existing Class E space and construction of Class 10, Class 100, Class 1,000 and Class 10K cleanrooms, wet and dry laboratories, and office space. Tool relocation required detailed coordination, phased decommissioning in accordance with City of San Jose requirements, packaging, shipping, installation and seismic anchoring at the new facility.

The project also included a VESDA fire alarm system and flammable gas monitoring system. Delivered in six phases, the work followed an accelerated design and construction schedule supported by early procurement of long-lead equipment.
