Graham has been selected by the BC Ministry of Transportation & Transit as the General Contractor for the rehabilitation of the Agassiz-Rosedale Bridge, a two-lane steel truss structure carrying Highway 9 across the Fraser River in the District of Kent. Built in 1956, the historic bridge is roughly 1,870 metres long, comprising 11 south approach spans, 6 river spans, 25 north approach spans, and 50 north viaduct spans. The rehabilitation will help extend the service life of this critical transportation corridor.

Key project components will include:
- The replacement of 25 deck joints and 155 bearings
- Concrete encapsulation of the approach expansion bent caps
- Repair and strengthening of deteriorated steel truss members
- Installation of drain troughs below the expansion finger joints
- The cleaning and recoating of deteriorated steel
- Removal of legacy lead-based coatings

Our Infrastructure team from the Vancouver Operations office will deliver these rehabilitative upgrades alongside Seabird (Sq’éwqel) Island Band and Cheam First Nation.
The bridge will remain open to the travelling public throughout construction, as the work will be sequenced in two half-width phases under single-lane alternating traffic, placing importance on traffic management over the Fraser River.
The project showcases a strong focus on safety, collaboration, and innovative delivery to connect communities across the Fraser Valley.
Construction has begun and is scheduled to be completed in summer 2029.
